Who we are: The Rockland Conservatory of Music, founded in 1956 by Janet and Ed Simons, is committed to fulfilling the Simons' original mission: To make it possible for anyone with a desire to make music a part of their life to be able to do so, regardless of their ability to pay.

What we do: The Rockland Conservatory of Music is a not-for-profit community music school and center for the performing arts, created to provide quality professional music instruction to students of diverse ages, abilities and financial backgrounds and to provide a community forum for performing arts, culture and entertainment. It is the conservatory's goal to involve and engage as many students as possible in meaningful, creative activities through lessons, performances, and positive musical experiences, thus building a life-long love of music.

The conservatory offers individual lessons in all instruments and voice, in classical, jazz, rock styles, group classes in musicianship, Suzuki string, flute and guitar methods, string orchestra, chamber ensembles for youth, adults and senior citizens and the Main Street Singers in collaboration with LIU Hudson Valley Learning Collaborative.

The conservatory is open all year and registration is ongoing.

What's new: The conservatory's newest program, launched in February, Jazz @ the Rock, conducted by Michael E. Smith, features high school musicians, playing trumpet, trombone, saxophone, guitar, bass guitar, drums and piano. Jazz @ the Rock incorporates curriculum and repertoire from the acclaimed Essentially Ellington program. The conservatory has recently expanded this initiative to include a middle school band, Jazz Cats, conducted by Michael Humphrey. Future plans include an elementary school jazz band.

How to contact us: The conservatory is located at  45 S Main Street, Pearl River. Send email to martha@rocklandconservatory.org
