5 Reliable Apps In Early Childhood Education

Today I have Mariana Ashley as guest blogger. Please be sure to check out her unique guest post. Guest posts are always welcome, please contact me.

Years ago, children were born into a world where teaching was confined to the classroom. In fact, the primary access kids had to early childhood education was through passionate teachers, loads of homework, and after-school tutorial sessions.  Beloved children's books like "Where The Wild Things Are," “Peter Pan,” and "Green Eggs and Ham" were available in paperback or hardback copies - forget digital downloads.

Present-day learning has improved in strides. Nowadays, children can access age-appropriate games, educational lessons, and challenging tasks through smartphones and tablets. Scrolling through the App Store, however, would make most anyone feel overwhelmed, given there are thousands of options to choose from. Below are some safe, informative apps that parents can trust to improve and expand a child’s early education.

1. StoryKit

A child’s mind is a wonderful thing to behold. Characters like Clifford and Curious George become their best friends, and thousands of creative stories fill their heads at all hours of the day. With
StoryKitchildren compose their own storybooks with no restrictions, qualifications, or limitations. StoryKit makes stories more than just fun to read, and on this app an imagination is a terrible thing to waste. Children also have the opportunity to add illustrations, stock photos, or scanned images and bring their words to life.

2. Read Me Stories

If your child doesn’t want to write their own stories, then the Read Me Stories App comes in handy. Each day, your child will have access to a vast library of books that read themselves aloud to your child. Not only do the books teach children new words, sayings, and sentence structures, the illustrations also interact with them as well. Forget pulling your hair out having to read that same storybook or fairy tale over and over again. Read Me Stories allows parents to let the app do all the work, and kids still have the same amount of fun along the way.

3. Grover's Number Special

For over forty years, Sesame Street has been connected to the childhood experience. Though the show is chalked full of fluffy trademark characters, there is a lot more that is going on in Sesame Street than meets the eye. For every minute a child engages with Sesame Street, they learn something new and interesting about math, society, language arts, and numerous other topics. The With Grover's Number Special App allows children to playfully engage with one of the show’s most famous characters, Grover, while learning how to improve and expand their understanding of food, numbers, addition, subtraction, and basic math skills.

4. Kid's World Maps

One topic that remains greatly neglected in schools is geography. Numerous children go through life unable to tell you more than five European countries and their proximity to each other. It’s a sad truth, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be corrected. Starting children early on world geography helps them become more cultured, directional individuals. The Kid's World Maps App helps children locate and study various countries and their locations throughout the world. It doesn’t end there, however; children can also access information on rivers, mountains, and countries’ populations, and other interesting facts about specific societies and cultures.

5. Montessori Approach to Cosmic Education

As the old saying goes: “We are not alone.” The universe stretches far beyond the confines of forever, and understanding that concept can be difficult for children. Although astronomy is not a heavily emphasized subject, it is an essential part of becoming a well-educated adult in today’s society. The Montessori Approach To Cosmic Education App teaches children about each planet’s name, orbit, and size, as well as the arrangement of the planets. This visually captivating app helps children understand that even though we don’t study it every day, astronomy is an important part of our existence.

E-learning grows throughout the world. Knowing the right resources to access for kids is of the utmost importance. So many poor e-learning resources permeate the app-sphere, but these five useful apps will help educate your children on math, reading, writing, astronomy and geography.
