Is your child a cheater? by Sherri Richards

Today’s technology puts a world of information in the palms of our children's hands – and provides new ways for them to cheat.

This makes it more important than ever for parents to establish guidelines and consequences for cheating.

In a recent poll of more than 2,000 students and parents, Common Sense found many teens aren’t clear about what constitutes cheating.
Twenty-three percent said storing notes on a phone to access during a test is not cheating, and 19 percent said downloading a paper from the Internet to turn in as your own is not cheating.

The website Plagiarism.org, which offers services to detect plagiarism, says a study by The Center for Academic Integrity found nearly 80 percent of college students say they’ve cheated at least once.
